Over the past several decades, growing demands for – and misuse of – water resources have increased pollution risks and severe water stress in many parts of the world. As a result, the frequency and intensity of local water crises have been increasing, with profound implications for public health, environmental sustainability, food, and energy security, and economic development.
Water and sanitation are at the core of sustainable development, and the range of services they provide underpin poverty reduction, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
Now more than ever, the world needs to transform how it manages its water resources and delivers water and sanitation services for billions of people. Urgent action is required to overcome this global crisis, as it affects all countries worldwide, socially, economically, and environmentally.
As GP TECH, we call upon relevant stakeholders and actors to galvanize actions and collaborate to accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) on water and sanitation, adopted by United Nations Member States at the 2015 UN Summit. A one step closer to overcoming the global crisis and ultimately ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
